Dothan Caregivers Become Like Family

During LeadingAge’s National Caregivers Day 2024 promotion, we celebrated a number of associates of Wesley Place on Honeysuckle in Dothan, and featured them on our social media. Family members of residents poured out praise for the loving kindness demonstrated by these associates. Our caregivers are special people, indeed, but just a sampling of the associates that make our retirement community in Dothan an amazing place. Whether you’re looking for assisted living in Dothan, memory carenursing care, or short-term rehab, we hope you will feel like you already have friends that you know at Wesley Place.

Resident and caregiver Lowella grasping hands and chatting together

Meet Lowella Stalvey. Lowella is an exceptional caregiver. She goes above and beyond daily for our residents. She began as a homemaker and our residents loved her cooking. She would cook something different if a resident wanted something other than what was on the main menu. It didn’t take her long to learn to love our residents and build relationships with them. She brings them joy every day she's on campus, whether it’s her singing, dancing or just sitting with them, talking or reminiscing. She became a CNA so she could learn to care for our residents and be more hands-on with them and involved in their daily care.

One family member commented, “Yes!!! LOWELLA!! She’s the absolute best!! I’ve never met a CNA so hardworking and caring as her!”

Caregiver Tisi standing behind resident seated in a wheelchair

Meet Tisi Miller. Tisi is a homemaker, housekeeper and CNA who is always cheerful and helpful. She gives selflessly to meet the needs of her residents and will stop what she’s doing to assist them. Her residents love her!

One family member commented, “She is the best.” And another, “Tisi thank you for the good that you do for others.”

Caregiver Robert in the kitchen presenting a home cooked meal

Meet Robert Forehand. Robert is the lead homemaker on the Rehab Inn and was originally on Martin 1. He is loved by his guests, families, and fellow staff members. Robert truly cares about the guests and their experience at the Rehab Inn, and takes their nutritional needs very serious in order to promote faster healing while also catering to their personal preferences. Robert often goes back to visit residents on the Martin 1 neighborhood where he originally served as a homemaker, making them feel loved and appreciated. He also plays Santa Claus for all the SNF resident parties. Thank you for being a model caregiver, Robert!

One former family member commented, “My mom and I love Robert!! He was so sweet to my mom and I when she was in rehab. He is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met!! Thank you so much Robert for everything you did.”

Caregiver Tammy sitting at a table with a male resident

Meet Tammie Brown. Tammy is an excellent CNA who works tirelessly through the night to ensure her residents are comfortable and ready for bed. For those who have trouble sleeping, she will sit with and sing to them until they fall asleep. There are certain residents who perk up when they see her and will only participate in activities with her. She is truly a blessing to the residents and their families.

One family member commented, “Tammy Johnson Brown is definitely a God-called caregiver! She is there for not only the residents there but those outside Wesley’s walls! She matters to so very many and our family (just to name one) couldn’t do it without her. We Love her as do her residents. Thank you for spotlighting her. She is awesome!!!!”

Resident and caregiver Lawanda clasping hands in friendship

Meet Lawanda Henderson. Lawanda has been an exceptional CNA at Wesley Place for 27+ years. She often spends one-on-on time with her residents, listening to them talk about their childhood, their day, and their cares and concerns. Wanda goes the extra mile to make her residents feel valued and loved.

One family member commented, “Sweet Lawanda” and another, “She’s the best!”
